Big shout out to the hard working folks who put on the first annual Hangout Music Fest in beautiful Gulf Shores, AL. Never been to a better-run, more beautiful fest than this one – and on top of it all, all proceeds go to help save our threatened Gulf Coast from this nasty oil spill. If you don’t love crystal blue water, sugar-white beaches, hot girls in bikinis and three days of world-class talent on four incredible stages – this one’s not for you! Can’t wait for next year!

Well another Jazz Fest has come and gone and the slow recovery continues! We had an incredible two weeks and want to sincerely thank all the fans who came to see us, all the clubs that invited us to play, all the musicians who joined us, and most of all, the great people at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival who invited us to be a part of the greatest music event in the world again this year. Can’t wait for 2011!

Honey Island Swamp Band kicks off JazzFest with a celebration of the new album Good To You at the official Good To You CD Release Party at the HiHo Lounge. Joining the band for a very special performance will be the ladies of Slow Burn Burlesque, who not only will be opening the show with a set of their own sexy sultry dancing, but will also be joining the band on a variety of numbers throughout the HISB set. This is looking to be a really unique and exceptional evening of pure NOLA entertainment, featuring two of the hottest acts in the Crescent City nightlife scene. Be sure to get there in time to take in all of the amazing fun – doors at 9pm, show starts at 10:00pm with the SBB performance, followed by a full HISB show that will go well into the wee hours. And don’t forget to pick up your very own copy of Good To You hot off the presses!

The tour starts out with a number of shows in Florida, followed by a run up the Eastern seaboard through NYC and Baltimore, then heading into new territories in western NY , PA and VA, ending up with a hometown show at One Eyed Jacks. Thank you, thank you to the New Orleans Saints for an unforgetable finish to an unbelieveable season! SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!! Still hard to believe we’re actually saying it, so we’ll say it again — SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!! It has been a most wonderous ride, culminating in the “Miracle in Miami” – a 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts and one of the best QBs of the last decade, NOLA homeboy Peyton Manning. (Tough one for Archie, but deep down he’s probably starting to feel real good about what his old team accomplished.) Really added a nice OOMPH to our annual Mardi Gras season too…not that we don’t know how to throw a party down here in New Orleans….but this was EXTRA BIG!!

So, we bow in honor of our beloved BLACK & GOLD, and ready to shout to the world…

We are thrilled to announce that the Honey Island Swamp Band has been named Best Emerging Artist 2009 by New Orleans’ legendary Offbeat Magazine! The band also picked up Best Blues Album of the year honors for Wishing Well. Thanks to all of our dedicated fans who voted for us and have supported us all year long – we couldn’t have made it without you! Thanks to Offbeat Magazine for the honor and all you do for New Orleans music. Here’s to an even bigger 2010!

HISB wins two Best Of The Beat Awards!

Well, looky there….the people have spoken! On January 23, HISB was honored with two awards at this year’s BEST OF THE BEAT Awards, hosted by OffBeat Magazine, the purveyors of all things Music in New Orleans and throughout the great state of Louisiana. The band was voted Best Emerging Artist for 2009, while Wishing Well was named 2009’s Best Blues Album. We want to thank all of our friends, family and fans who voted for us in these two categories. We’d also like to thank OffBeat for inviting the band to play a set at the House of Blues in the French Quarter, where the awards ceremony was held, joining the likes of Galactic, Anders Osborne, Bonerama, and Shamarr Allen on stage that night. Don’t worry, there will be no “resting on laurels”….while 2009 was a wonderful year for the band, 2010 is gonna be even bigger. Lookout!

HISB announces new album for 2010 with Threadhead Records!

We are excited to announce that we have begun pre-production on our next record, which we plan to release in April 2010. It is our privilege to be producing this album with Threadhead Records, an organization that since Hurricane Katrina has been producing records for New Orleans musicians and using a portion of the proceeds to benefit the New Orleans Musician’s Clinic.

How it works:

Basically, friends and fans contribute money to Threadhead Records for the recording of the next Honey Island Swamp Band album. All album sales are used to repay each individual investor within six months. After every investor is repaid, an additional ten percent of the total money raised is given to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic.

The Clinic offers free or discounted health care to New Orleans musicians, most of whom have never been provided with any traditional employer-paid health care. It is a vital service to the community and one that we all as musicians have relied upon in the past and continue to depend on.
